A shape match cut is a video editing technique where you rapidly cut between different photos whose main subjects share a similar outline — a car, a bottle, a bird, a tree — all precisely aligned. The result is a hypnotic montage where silhouettes morph into each other seamlessly, the kind of thing you see in car commercials, music videos, and viral social content.

How does the shape alignment work?

We use MediaPipe Image Segmenter (DeepLab-v3) to detect the dominant object in each photo. The tool then computes the principal axis of the silhouette via PCA and locks every shape to the same center, scale, and rotation across all frames.

What if some photos don't have a detectable shape?

Images without a detected foreground shape are automatically skipped during processing. You'll see a count of how many were skipped so you can replace them if needed.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Shape detection runs in your browser via WebAssembly. Works on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on both desktop and mobile.

What export formats are available?

MP4 (H.264) and WebM (VP9) up to 4K resolution. You can also export as GIF or a ZIP of individual frames. All exports are watermark-free.

Can I use my own photos?
