Mention
The @tag sticker, ready to drop on any photo
Type a username. You get the handle, the blue tick and an optional speech bubble, cropped tight on a transparent background.

What it makes
A sticker, not a screenshot
The export is cropped to the bubble itself, so there is no white box and no margin to trim before it goes on a photo.

Real transparency
PNG keeps a true alpha channel, so the tag sits on any background without a halo.
The tick is the tick
A twelve-lobed scalloped badge, not a circle with a check in it. At any size it reads as the real thing.
Animate it or do not
Leave every motion off for a still sticker, or add a letter reveal and an entrance and export a video.
What a mention sticker is
It is the small tag creators put over a photo or a Reel to credit somebody: an @ handle, usually with the blue verified tick, sometimes inside a rounded speech bubble with a little tail. Instagram has its own version inside Stories, but that one lives in the app and cannot be saved, moved into an editor, or used anywhere else.
This mode draws the same object as a file. Pick the handle, decide whether the tick and the bubble are on, and download it. Because the background is transparent, the same PNG works on a photo, in a video edit, on a thumbnail, or in a carousel, and it looks identical every time.
Four steps
Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for before you see it working.
Type the handle
The type size is picked from the length, so a short name and a long one both sit properly in the frame.
Choose the look
Turn the tick, the @, the bubble and dark mode on or off. Dark mode is for when the photo behind the tag is dark.
Add motion if you want it
Six letter reveals, eleven entrances and eleven exits. Leave them all off and the export stays a still.
Download it
A transparent PNG cropped to the bubble, a transparent WebM if it moves, or an MP4 with a solid or green background.
How it compares
Where this is different
Most ways of getting a mention sticker either keep it locked in an app or make you rebuild it by hand.
| What matters | zlabz | Typical tag generators |
|---|---|---|
| Video export | Rendered in your browser, no upload | Paid tier, and the file goes to a server to be converted |
| Animated transparency | Transparent WebM, exported locally | Usually a paid format, and often only a flat background |
| High resolution | 2K and 4K on the same free terms as HD | HD free, larger sizes behind a subscription |
| Motion presets | Every reveal, entrance and exit is usable | Shown in the interface but locked until you pay |
| Languages | The editor runs in 32 languages | English only |
| What else you get | One of more than thirty effects in the same editor | A single page that does one thing |
Other ways people do this
Instagram in-app mention sticker
Free and native, but the sticker only exists inside a Story. You cannot save it as a file or reuse it.
Canva text + badge graphic
Flexible, but you rebuild the badge and the bubble yourself, and matching the real proportions by eye takes a while.
Figma export
Precise if you already have a component for it. Overkill if you just need one tag for one post.
CapCut text overlay
Good for burning text into a clip. No verified badge, and nothing you can export on its own with transparency.

What people use it for
Anywhere a credit has to sit on top of something else.
- Crediting a photographer
- Drop the handle in a corner of the shot instead of burying it in the caption.
- Reels and TikToks
- A transparent WebM lets the tag animate in over footage without a background box.
- Carousel covers
- The same sticker across every slide, at the same size, because it is one file.
- Brand collaborations
- Both handles, matched in size and style, rather than two mismatched screenshots.
- Thumbnails
- A 4K PNG stays sharp when it is scaled down into a small cover image.
- Press kits and decks
- A clean handle graphic that works on a light slide and a dark one.
Questions
Is the exported PNG really transparent?+
Yes. The file keeps a real alpha channel, and the export is cropped to the bubble, so there is no background and no empty margin around it.
Can I export an animated tag with a transparent background?+
Yes, as WebM. MP4 cannot carry transparency at all, so if you pick MP4 the background is filled with a colour or a green screen instead of quietly turning black.
Does this post to Instagram for me?+
No. It makes a file. You add it to your photo or video in whatever app you already edit in.
Do I need an account?+
You can open the editor and see your tag straight away. Signing in is only needed to download the file.
Which font does it use?+
Inter at bold weight, self hosted by the site. Nothing is fetched from a third party while you work, and the same face is used in the preview and in the export.
Is this affiliated with Instagram?+
No. It is an independent tool that draws a tag in a familiar style. Instagram is a trademark of its owner.
